This lovely memaw really brought the party in this wedding scene from Columbia Pictures’s “Julie & Julia”. It was a 30 second love affair with her hat which leaves me desiring to take a millinery course again. I mean, a hat this style this would cover up my hair sleep-spot entirely!

Having arrived in Vilnius just in time for a Lithuanian Christmas with my sister, I was greeted by the rosy tint of several cheerful buildings. All its missing is Skipper and Ken and the matching pink car.

Whenever I feel like I lack a bit of sparkle, but I’m low on cash and some window-shipping is in order, I head to This N’ That Collectibles on West 25th st. for a quick fix. The sales clerk laughs at me when I press my nose to the window, imagining my “staircase moment” wrapped in yards of these jewels from the past.

Another weekend discovery in my neighborhood ! My new love is this fantastic antique book store called Argosy on 59th st. They sell everything from fabulous out-of-print books and antique volumes (the subtitle alone of the one above makes me giggle), to maps, old marbled book covers ($2.00!!), prints…and last but not least…..original fashion sketches [...]
