Blooms of Summer

I spent a lovely day tchotchke shopping with Auntie E in Cape Cod as I do each year, and surprise of
all surprises, my father joined us! Given, we we all gathered for my cousin’s graduation party, but this eponymous staunchly modern architect would have sooner used his Le Corbusier for kindling than accompany us for sentimental frames made of hand-gathered sea glass.

Whenever I feel like I lack a bit of sparkle, but I’m low on cash and some window-shipping is in order, I head to This N’ That Collectibles on West 25th st. for a quick fix. The sales clerk laughs at me when I press my nose to the window, imagining my “staircase moment” wrapped in yards of these jewels from the past.

You have my heart, dear Janovic!

I had not expected such tremendous things from a paint store, but earlier this week, I was enthralled by the windows at Janovic Paint on the corner of 6th ave and Spring. Each window had a different scene, and the detail was tremendous. I wish I could shake the window dresser’s hand….it made me so happy!
