Another weekend discovery in my neighborhood ! My new love is this fantastic antique book store called Argosy on 59th st. They sell everything from fabulous out-of-print books and antique volumes (the subtitle alone of the one above makes me giggle), to maps, old marbled book covers ($2.00!!), prints…and last but not least…..original fashion sketches [...]

The Elixir of Love
I recently made a new friend, Paul Cammarota, and he invited me to the Met for a truly magical afternoon at the opera for a dress rehearsal. As I am constantly obssessing over anything in the visual arts and how it is concepted, I relished seeing a “rough run” of L’Elisir d’Amore. The set and costumes were a visual treat for my eyes, especially this scene I was able to sneak a pic of….
You have my heart, dear Janovic!
I had not expected such tremendous things from a paint store, but earlier this week, I was enthralled by the windows at Janovic Paint on the corner of 6th ave and Spring. Each window had a different scene, and the detail was tremendous. I wish I could shake the window dresser’s hand….it made me so happy!
Valentino Schmalintino…
Lately, I have been fascinated with seeing documentaries about clothing designers….whether its Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton or Lagerfeld Confidential or the oldie but goodie, Unzipped with Mr. Mizrahi, I lovingly obsess….. Given, the above picture taken in the movie theater at the first week release of “VALENTINO: THE LAST EMPEROR” looks a bit dodgy, but I just had to get a shot.
Art N’ Stuff.
I finally took a trip to The Met and thought I’d share some things that really inspired me there. God, I forgot what a wealth of creativity dwelled there. Though I wasn’t allowed to take pics of the Bonnard exhibition, I found the colors he used and the way the show was curated amazing. Definate [...]
I’m in Love with Uma’s Apartment…..
I’ve been lazing around all weekend, expecting inspiration just to come to me. Then, in the form of the boob-tube, it did. Of course, this is a totally Hollywood-ized version of a New York apartment, but I love its fakeness nonetheless. I love the Kelly Wearstler-like arrangement on the coffee table. Yummy. Wish I could live like that.
How Much is that Doggie in the Window?
I’ve been living in my hood for over nine years, and never had I done more than pressed my nose against the window of this lovely antiques store. Today, I was able to go inside Alice Kwartler for a better look.
Another Day, another Thousand Dollars…
This was the lovely sign greeting me at the reception to my accountant’s office. My accountant, a self-professed “Tax Guru” whom I have been seeing for over 4 years, always has his eccentric quirks. This year, he was down to one cranky sign and only a five hour wait. Yup, its crazy, and you’re probably wondering I put up with it, but he does save me a lot of cash-ola.
That’s the magic answer to us poor freelancers. But despite my best efforts, I still had a massive lump sum to pay to the tax man. How did the rest of you freelancers fare this tax season?
Trip to Tchotchke Town to find my mojo….
I love Chinatown…the only place that you can find light-up breasts that are actually a clever little lighter, and ceramic frogs, so life-like and loveable, they suffer (above) from too much love. This was also where I went on the hunt for my mojo.
