Every so often, I get a hip client who affords me a fun design project. Thus, when this latest chichi chickie approached me about making a skirt for a Christmas-time wedding, I happily obliged. The result was this buffalo-plaid half-circle skirt, bias-cut and fully lined. The high waist was adorned with a buttery lambskin waist-cinching cumberbund belt that I also constructed by hand. The fabric was my favorite- a loosely woven basketweave in just the right oversized proportion.
I’d like to remind you guys that custom clothing like this is not only my bread-and-butter, but what I secretly love working on waaaay more so than computer-aided freelance design. So if you have an idea of something you want made, please contact me at milda@mildadesigns.com. Keep in mind that couture is custom made for your body, so its a bit more pricey than something off-the-rack that was made in a factory. However, the trade-off is uncompromising quality and fit. Above are a few other detail shots, and below, some old-timey photos from Bloom’s Deli on Lex and 40th…… (just for fun!)
