I once had an boyfriend who said he couldn’t stand it when I wore those “Grandma clothes“. He was, of course, referring to my penchant for vintage fashion and my predilection for eclectic glamour, which at that stage, I had just started to experiment with. Incidentally, I am no longer with the chap, and have since heard he has moved onto a very exciting life with a less “geriatrically-inspired” wife in the ‘burbs. While our competing taste levels weren’t the main issue, that snippish statement stuck with me, and I vowed to never let a male (or anyone else for that matter) affect my personal style and spontaneity with fashion.
One woman has emerged as both my fashion and interior design hero to that effect- Kelly Wearstler. A judge on Bravo’s TOP DESIGN, she dons runway-worthy looks with the same casual, effortless manner it takes to wear sweats. Last night’s look did me in. A fabulous Marni turban (just when I thought they were O-vah), vintage jewels, and Louboutin heels for the competition portion of the show was amazing…it certainly doesn’t hurt that the girl has a bangin’ body and drop-dead model looks. My estimation is that Granny had the style bit right the whole time… This is my Fab Look of the Day!!!
