Bellagio and Formaggio….

So, as it turns out, being in Italy doesn’t suck. I arrived last night from wine-tasting in Piedmont and descended upon a brisk evening in Tremezzo on Lake Como. Once settled, my girlfriends and I went and had a fabulous dinner at George Clooney’s favorite restaurant, La Fagurida. Let’s just say that my favorite dish was the stewed rabbit in rosemary and the super-cheesy polenta. YUM.

Afterwards, our stilettos stumbled to Cantina Follie for a bottle of wine. The owners, a lovely couple, with an incredibly keen eye for great wine, sat us front-and-center in the beautiful cellar. Every gorgeous bottle we tried, we fell in love with..I highly recommend the Tocia’ 2003 Marchiopolo (not pictured)- i will be dragging back at least two bottles. It had a great fruity flavor, but only a touch of sweetness. Go there, ask for Joost (he will answer any of your questions about wine- no matter how stupid), and grab a seat on their roof deck upstairs. I promise you, you won’t regret it.

After a solid (10+) hours of sleep recovering from wine coma, we spent the day in lovely Bellagio, on the tip that extends into Lake Como. I especially love the sky shot I took on the ferry ride back. I call them “Jesus Clouds”.
